Yolélé Afro Punk Fonio Pilaf: Dawadawa + Herbs

Yolélé Afro Punk Fonio Pilaf: Dawadawa + Herbs

$6.00

Fonio Pilaf blends are inspired by the cuisine of West Africa and cook in just 5 minutes. They are light + fluffy, and full of bright, vibrant flavors and ingredients sourced from West Africa.

Afro-Funk, aka "The Music" Dawadawa is a seasoning made with fermented locust beans, which come from drought-resistant trees that grow across West Africa. Its earthy complexity packs a nutrient-dense, probiotic punch.

Fonio is a tiny ancient grain that has been cultivated and prized by cultures across Africa for over 5,000 years. It is nutritious, delicious, cooks in just five minutes, and completely gluten-free. Fonio is prized for its delicate taste and versatility. To the Dogon people of Mali, it is known as the "seed of the universe" the grain from which the whole universe was born.  Yolélé's mission is to create economic opportunity for smallholder farming communities.  Working with NGO partners on the ground, Yolélé sources exclusively from smallholder farming communities and promotes regenerative farming practices.

Yolélé was founded by industry veteran Philip Teverow and Pierre Thiam, award-winning chef, cookbook author + restaurateur, global ambassador for African cuisine + culture, and longtime advocate for sustainability + biodiversity.
